The Razlog valley is an all-year holiday destination. The Winter season for snow sports in Bansko is from early December to early May, and the resort caters for all levels of Skiing & Boarding. Additionally off-piste powder skiing and "Extreme" winter sports (heli-skiing) are on offer. The whole infrastructure, including gondola & lifts, was replaced in 2003 at a cost exceeding 30 million Euros. There are currently 70 km of piste, 70% of which can be enhanced by snow generating machines.
For the rest of the year, apart from relaxing, admiring the amazing mountain views and eating the inexpensive and excellent local food & wine, there are a tremendous number of things to do. There is plentiful fishing, horse riding, days out with a horse and cart, or why not visit the "Brigitte Bardot" bear rescue centre, a few kilometres away in Belitsa. There are also many active pursuits outside the winter season, including walking at all levels, hikings in the mountains with or without guides, mountain biking, and climbing. "Extreme" sports include para-gliding & white-water rafting. The first of 7 new Golf courses (an 18 hole Par 72 "Ian Woosnam" Championship course) in the area was opened in 2009.
