Belitsa

Home of the "Brigitte Bardot" Dancing Bears Park, Belitsa is a working town, some 20km from Bansko, having some very pleasant Mehanas and the Zdravets complex featuring excellent restaurant and pool (Summer only). Zdravets can be found on the road from Belitsa to Dolno Draglishte.

A vist to the Bear Park is an absolute must! This charitable trust set itself up to rescue all the performing bears in Bulgaria.Take the road to Belitsa and follow the signs (Bulgarian & English). Please note the road is rather pot-holed! On arrival you can wander freely through the park, on special paths between the wire-netted enclosures. Currently all 25 Dancing bears are now living at the Bear Park, having been rescued from a life of performing on burning hot metal plates and chained by nose rings.
